How does acupuncture work?
Special needles are inserted at certain points on the body to stimulate energy, known as Qi in Chinese medicine, along pathways called meridians. The meridians are linked to specific internal organs and organ systems. The needles, which are pre-sterilized and disposable, are extremely thin and cause little or no pain when inserted.
How many times will I need to come in for treatments?
That depends on your ailment and your general health. Some people will respond to treatment more quickly than others. Our goal is to affect your body’s energy so that your body will begin to take over the healing process. At your initial visit, we will let you know how many times we recommend for you treatment plan. Near the end of a treatment plan, we will assess your progress and make changes if necessary.
Can you treat my problem?
Chinese medicine is a comprehensive system of medicine, so we can be helpful in most health conditions. It may be that acupuncture would be useful for you. It might also be that food therapy and lifestyle changes would be more appropriate. These are some of the options we may discuss with you.
Can I use this in conjunction with other types of medicine and therapies?
Generally, yes. Sometimes acupuncture enhances the effect of other therapies you are already using. We will discuss your medical history and current concerns in detail with you.
Do I have to be sick to get acupuncture? Can I use this medicine for wellness?
This medicine is based on strengthening the body to prevent illness and historically has been used to prevent illness. Many people use Chinese medicine as part of their health maintenance plan. Some come in once a month for a wellness visit, while others come in with each change of season.
What is your cancellation policy?
A cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours before the appointed time. A no-show is when a patient misses an appointment without cancelling or contacting us. In the case of a late cancellation, we will charge a missed appointment fee of 50% of the scheduled services. In the case of a no-show, we will charge the full price of the scheduled services. Exceptions will be made in the event of a true, unavoidable emergency or illness due to COVID-19.
Do you take insurance?
We are a member of the HealthPartners and Cigna provider networks. Many plans do cover acupuncture; we can check your eligibility, deductible, and copay amounts as a courtesy at your first visit. If you do not have HealthPartners or Cigna insurance, we will give you a receipt that includes the insurance codes your insurance company may need to process a claim. You can then submit these receipts to your insurance company. Many patients also choose to use their Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to cover their acupuncture appointments.

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. It is a beneficial healing modality that is very popular and utilized for health and wellness. Based on energetic principles, Reiki is practiced in many hospitals, medical settings, and in private practice all around the world. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
